This policy defines our approach to occupational health, safety management, and workplace welfare, ensuring full compliance with Kenya’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and international standards such as ISO 45001:2018.

1. Policy Objective

Our goal is to eliminate workplace accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses through proactive risk management, staff training, and a culture of shared responsibility.
We aim to ensure that every individual returns home safely each day.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all Wondernut operations — including farms, processing facilities, logistics operations, and offices.
It extends to employees, contractors, suppliers, and visitors working within or on behalf of the company.

3. Our Commitments

a. Safe Working Environment
We maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free workplaces, ensuring that all equipment and infrastructure meet safety and ergonomic standards.

b. Risk Assessment & Prevention
We regularly identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards through continuous risk assessments, preventive maintenance, and emergency preparedness planning.

c. Training & Awareness
All employees receive safety induction and ongoing training tailored to their roles — covering topics such as machinery operation, fire safety, chemical handling, and first aid.

d. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
We provide and enforce the use of PPE wherever required, ensuring that all workers are properly equipped for their tasks.

e. Health & Hygiene
We promote physical and mental well-being through hygienic workspaces, access to clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, and health check-up programs.

f. Emergency Preparedness
Emergency response procedures — including evacuation plans, fire drills, and first-aid readiness — are regularly reviewed and tested.

g. Reporting & Investigation
All accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions must be reported immediately.
Each case is investigated transparently, and corrective measures are implemented to prevent recurrence.

h. Zero Tolerance for Harassment & Discrimination
Wondernut maintains a respectful, inclusive workplace. Harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.

i. Continuous Improvement
We review safety performance regularly and use data-driven insights to strengthen our systems, reduce risks, and promote a culture of shared responsibility.

4. Employee Responsibilities

Every employee is responsible for their own safety and that of their colleagues.
Employees are expected to:

• Follow all safety instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Use PPE correctly at all times.

• Report unsafe conditions immediately.

• Participate in safety drills and training sessions.

5. Policy Oversight & Review

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Committee oversees the implementation of this policy, ensuring compliance, monitoring performance, and promoting continual improvement.
This policy is reviewed annually or when operational or legal changes occur.
